GROUPS

California Writers Club

One of the oldest writer's organizations in continuous operation in the nation. Its members are poets,journalists, essayists, technical writers, and creators of genre and literary fiction, as well as editors, booksellers, and others involved in related fields, all joined together for the common goal of educating its members and the community on the craft of writing and the realities of getting work published.

IWOSC - Independent Writers of Southern California

This group provides writers with several opportunities to get together with other writers each month. IWOSC has casual satellite get-togethers in various areas, holds a seminar most months, and meets regularly which usually includes a panel discussion about a writing-related topic.

The LA Writers Group

Established in 2003, the site runs several writers groups and creative writing workshops throughout the Los Angeles, California area. It provides improvisational writing exercises that writers can apply to their current project or use to create new stories, and host a safe place for writers to create new work and exchange critique on works in progress.

Los Angeles Romance Authors

Los Angeles Romance Authors (LARA) provides educational and motivational support for published and aspiring romance writers. LARA is affiliated with the Romance Writers of America®. Both the LARA Chapter and RWA are Nonprofit Organizations.

Mystery Writers

Mystery Writers of America, Inc. (MWA) was established in 1945 by a dozen or so like-minded mystery writers for the purpose of promoting and protecting the interests and welfare of mystery writers and to increase the esteem and literary recognition given to the genre.

Ojai Writers Conference

The Ojai Writers Conference was created by writers for writers. The Ojai Writers Conference (OWC) presents programs, workshops and events for writers of all levels and genres. OWC launched in the Spring of 2011 when it offered professional writing classes during Ojai WordFest.

Sisters in Crime

Sisters in Crime (SinC) is an international organization founded in 1986 to promote the professional development and advancement of women writing crime fiction. Women's Artistic Network

Women's Artistic Network encourages women to connect with other women to achieve success in the artistic world. WAN is a group formed in Ventura County, with members from the San Fernando Valley, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Simi Valley, and Running Springs. WAN inspires writers,poets, artists, composers, speakers, and journalists.
