The Ventura County Writers Club was founded in 1933 by four writers in the Ojai, California area. Since then, the club has grown to more than 150 members and holds regular monthly general membership meetings. In these meetings persons prominent in all areas and genres of the literary field speak on sources for ideas, enhancing creativity, and getting your work published.
There are many benefits to membership. Members may attend, free of charge, a variety of Writers Workshops, groups that meet one or more times a month throughout the county to read and critique manuscripts and discuss many aspects of the business and craft of writing. Members receive reduced contest entry fees. Their work may be published in the club's anthology, issued every other year.
Members also receive "The Write Stuff", our bimonthly newsletter. The newsletter publishes member articles and excerpts, fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, provides information on opportunities for writers, contests and events offered by other writers groups, detailed information on upcoming speakers, as well as other club activities such as our annual short-story and poetry contests, and our all-day writers' conference.
Members may also advertise their books and services on our website, as well as promote activities and events related to writing.
Meeting Dates: Every second Tuesday of the month, except December
